Genealogy Web Links

Listed below are a selection of very useful web sites that may assist you with your genealogical research.

Hints for searching for Family names

Different web sites use different search methods. For example the "Family Search" has an excellent 'fuzzy' search, which automatically looks at what it thinks are probable variations. The "Births, Marriages & Deaths" site allows the use of 'Wild Card' searches, by replacing certain letters. However, the 1901 Census search only uses the exact spelling.

Those of you searching for the Brudenell names will be aware of the numerous spelling variations. So, please check carefully on each site how they conduct searches. If you are unable to find someone using one spelling try one of the others - you will be surprised what you may find!

Good searching!
